In No Particular Order, the News

News: there's a lot of it. Some good, some bad, some very, very good. Obviously, must put it in a list for sake of sanity. Here goes:

1) Spent New Year's in Paris. And it was brilliant. It may be the perfect city. I have lots and lots of pictures and lots and lots of things to say. I would love to hunker down and hibernate my way through a dozen blog entries but it will have to wait because

2) Came home from Paris to a house with no heat, a boot on my car, an overflowing inbox full of congratulations and questions because

3) The Boy proposed. In Paris. On New Year's Day. On this bridge. And I said yes*. It was perfect and romantic and beautiful and if it was happening to anyone but me I would roll my eyes and gag. But guess what? It's happening to ME. That's right, folks. I'm a fian-fucking-cee.

4) Someone very close to me passed away. It sucks a lot and that's all I can say right now.

So, even though all I want to do this week is this:

I have a lot of catching up to do. A bientot, bitches.

*Actually, I said, "yes, yes, oh my god! yes!"

Wish List, sort of.

My mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas today and I realized that I have no idea. Normally I have a mile-long wishlist, but somewhere between deciding to make all my presents this year and actually making them (I am not a crafty person...) I forgot that I would get something too. Now that I've taken a minute to think about it...I still have no idea.

Here are a few things I can't get enough of, though.

1) Books
I know, I know. I said books weren't the best gifts, but I didn't mean it. Books from people I respect with intellects I aspire to are the best gifts in the world.

2) Vintage clothes
Speaking of Pushing Daisies, specifically anything Chuck wears. I'm (re)watching it now with The Boy and, sometime around the 8th episode, he pointed out that every single time we watch it I say, "Ooh! I love that dress/hat/skirt/whatever".

3) Champagne
Prosecco, sparkling wine, whatever. Of course champagne proper is preferable, but I'm easy.

4) Luggage
And travel gear. I have loads of it, but much of that is being employed to hold, say, scarves, or books. And there's always room for more, and there's really nothing like a good, leather duffel to make your trip easier.

5) Recipes
I love cooking, and it's the only domestic thing I'm any damn good at (see top re: crafting).

So, those are a few things that will never fail to please me. What are some things you can never get enough of, Christmas after Christmas?

New and Exciting

So, I've been asked to style a shoot, which finally gave me the impetus I needed to stop using Paint for my collage whatnots (I know, so embarrassing) which led to my discovering Polyvore, which led to an entire day spent ogling all the pictures on there. And this was the result, for an upcoming shoot with a gorgeous model I'm super psyched to style.

RIP Blake Edwards

Thanks for the laughs.
