Monday is not my favorite...

I wanted to do a list of favorites every Sunday but, you know, I didn't. I spent all weekend working, which was good and bad. Good in that I like what I do and money is good and bad in that it meant wearing pants on a Sunday (among other things). Here it is, a day late. Really, it wouldn't be me if it wasn't late, and we all know the point of a blog is to be. all. about. ME.

So.

1) Cupcakes.

This is no surprise. To anyone. Anywhere. I'm pretty sure there are micro-phrenologists* in Bulgaria who occasionally think, "that Sarah Hartshorne chippy sure loves her some cupcakes." But the problem is this: I'm a terrible baker. Cooking is one thing, but baking has to be precise and requires an attention span longer than .2 seconds. So, I go here. And here. And, oh Lord, here.

But I think I might try just for these banana and chocolate cupcakes from Love and Olive Oil, a gorgeous cooking blog. We'll see how it goes.

2) Infinity pools.
This pool did a lot to help soothe the sting of wearing pants on a Sunday. Especially since I got to take off aforementioned pants and jump in. In fact, at one point during the shoot, the photographer turned to me and said, "Sarah, you have to finish your ice cream before you get out of the pool." At which point my five-year-old self miraculously reincarcated, walked over to me and hugged me for making life choices that led to that moment. Then she smacked me in the face because she was jealous.**

That is a pool. At someone's house. In the mountains. Someday I will have that pool at MY house in the mountains. Not pictured: infinity HOT TUB. I didn't even know those existed.

3) Bookshelves.
I recently came to own a shit-ton of books. Not that my prior collection was anything to scoff at, but I was bequeathed my grandmother's library and then went to a giant book sale. I squealed, I grabbed from old men, it was embarrassing. But it led to me owning a first edition version of T.S. Elliot so I don't even care. The problem, if you can call it that, is that now I really need a bookshelf.

4) Capes.
I'm about four seasons behind, but on a recent and unexpectedly cold trip to DC it occurred to me that wearing a cape must feel like walking around wrapped in a blanket. And now, every time I get chilly I just want one like whoa.

3) Puffy skirts
Not sure I'd every wear one except for a photo shoot, but it was pretty awesome to flounce around in a big fluffy couture tutu for an afternoon. Carrie Bradshaw, eat your heart out.

*I made that up.
**I made that up, too.

  2. I know. I've seen the error in my ways and it was grave. Let's wear capes together.
