Some Awesome for Your Week(end)

I started this entry on Monday, and it was supposed to be some awesome for your week, but then I had to go to class, and read stuff and also there was something shiny. So now you've all had a lackluster, un-awesome week and it's all my fault.

Not to worry, I've wrangled up some extra awesome to make up for it. Here goes.

Things That Are Awesome
1. The Netherlands

No matter what Fox News says. For that matter,

2. This blog. It has really opened my eyes to the problems inherent in the media's portrayal of women, minorities and non-heterosexuals. That, in turn, has led to increased fancy pantsiness and high horsiness of my blog's vocabulary.

3. This video

I had no idea I was in love with Kristen Bell until I saw it. I just want to keep her in the +7 emotional zone at all times.

4. This video
I did know that I was in love with M.I.A., but I did not know that this would be the inspiration for my personal style for the rest of my life. Or until I see something shinier.

5. This outfit

Seriously, head to toe perfection.

7. Boobs

8. And finally, free stuff!

Don't forget to enter my giveaway by clicking here. The cutoff time is midnight tonight, so do it now! Don't bookmark it and then think you'll get to it because you'll probably end up distracted by your Hulu queue or laundry or something. Hypothetically speaking.

Weekend Recap

Some of you may know that I recently had surgery on my sinuses to fix a deviated septum, chronic sinusitus and problems with my hearing that I've had ever since I was a kid. It was one of those things I didn't really think too much of until a friend of mine who had the surgery pointed out that it wasn't normal to get 5-6 sinus infections a year. Also I hadn't really heard my own voice in 2 years.

Immediately after the surgery my hearing improved. While I was in post-op, still groggy and delighted from the medication, I kept poking my nurse and saying, "no, no, no. You don't understand. I sound weird.... like ME. I sound like me. Like me. Can I have jello?"

I was her favorite.

Of course, surgeries mean recuperation so apart from a few castings (where I gave the photographers a pose I call 'Congested Chic') I've been pretty much bed or couchridden.

But by this weekend I was feeling more than a little stir crazy and sick of looking like this:

So I tried poking the Boy until he got annoyed, following the cat around the house, watching movies and yelling at the screen. Nothing worked.

Sometimes a lady just has to throw on her faux fur coat and take herself out for bacon and waffles.

And sometimes that lady spills coffee on her faux fur coat.

The outfit, I think, was due to overexposure to this video, which I can't make up my mind about.

I mean,  love the clothes, love the tigers, kind of like the song. But if she does one more little pantomime motion I'm going to strangle her with her own head wreath.

Happy MLK weekend everyone!

Some Awesome For Your Weekend

These luggage tags:

These videos, which cracked me up. Yes, Algernon, work does suck dick for Skittles sometimes.

This bar, which I went to with a friend last night. They have $5 Royal Kirs, which are delicious and champagne mojitos which are enormous.

This website, which sends you perfume samples if you're a commitment-phobe about it like me. Yes, I am a commitment-phobe who's marrying her high school sweetheart. Weird.

You know what is not awesome at all? Needles. Needles are ungodly creations that have no place in modern medicine.

I had to have some blood taken in order to register for school and as I walked into the lab I'd fully calmed myself down until the woman doing the terrible deed said, "wow, these are a lot of vials. This is going to be a heck of a drawing!"

Note to any and all lab technicians: this is not an acceptable statement to make ever at all.

So, she got underway and I thought about puppies and beaches and it was over in no time. And I thought about how silly it was that I'd made such a fuss. And then I thought about the floor which seemed to be coming towards me rather fast. How odd. And suddenly the woman who did the terrible deed was saying things like, "stay with me, girlie," and "I'm just going to prop you here while I get you some water," and, "stop trying to lie on the floor."

I felt so bad for her all by herself in the lab having to lean me against a headrest while she ran and got water and wondered if I was going to throw up (I didn't) or go unconscious again (I did).

As someone who is very uncomfortable with people who aren't in control of their bodily fluids I sympathized. And she was so nice, pouring water down my throat and assuring me that I didn't have to be embarrassed because it happened all the time (I'm not sure I believe her).

Finally, I started to feel better. "Ah, you're coming back to me," she said.

"Dear God, I hope not," I said.

Some Awesome for Your Weekend

A few things that I think are awesome:

This video

Actually, this entire video series and, more specifically, this woman. I just want to keep her in my cupboard for always.

This website. Because I recently learned that I can't be left alone with Chex Mix of any flavor without eating the entire bag. This may or may not be related to Chex Mix being on sale for $1 at my grocery store. May or may not.

My garden and its bounty:

This picture:
Bahaha. I'm 5. Whatever.

Champagne and bed:

And the fact that I will be putting those two things together this weekend.

This outfit:

I'm still working on how to incorporate neons without looking weird and I think I might need this bag. Ugh, she looks so cool I hate her a little.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! After a lazy and unproductive week I'm hoping I'll be a flurry of productivity. Or, you know, drunk in bed.

Happy Weekend!

It's the weekend, and I have tons of work to do. But it's still the weekend. So, a few friends, a little champagne, some high heels and I'll feel like a million bucks.

And for your viewing pleasure, a trippy as balls video that I think is just great.

Good morning

Sometimes I rather wish my life looked like this:

Do you think the perfume will make it so?
